A method in a wireless device (810) is disclosed. The wireless device receives (1404) an uplink grant from a network node (815), the uplink grant scheduling one or more uplink transmissions by the wireless device. The wireless device selects (1408) an ON/OFF time mask to use for transmitting the one or more uplink transmissions. The wireless device determines (1412), based on the received uplink grant, an allowed placement of a transient period of the selected ON/OFF time mask and a duration of the transient period to use for the one or more uplink transmissions.
