The invention relates to an exhaust heat recovery system having a working fluid circuit (1) carrying a working fluid, having at least one heat exchanger (2a), which is connected in an exhaust line (3) of an internal combustion engine (5), and which is a part of the working fluid circuit (1) together with at least one expansion machine (11), a condenser (12), and a fluid pump (15). According to the invention, an exhaust heat recovery system and a method for operating such an exhaust heat recovery system are specified, which are improved over the prior art, in particular in respect of the system efficiency thereof. This is achieved in that the fluid pump (15) has a drive shaft (26), which is connected to a drive shaft (28) of an electric machine (27) of a boost recuperation system, which in turn together finally interact via a clutch (32) with a drive train (21) of a vehicle, in which the internal combustion engine (5) is installed.
