Provided are a method and device for calculating a power generation capacity of a wind farm. The method comprises: determining whether the topographical complexity of a wind farm region exceeds pre-set complexity (101); if the topographical complexity exceeds the pre-set complexity, then determining the representativeness of data of an anemometer tower in the wind farm region (102); if the representativeness of the data of the anemometer tower is insufficient, then carrying out meso-scale numerical modelling on meteorological variables in the wind farm region (103); extracting meso-scale numerical modelling data as virtual anemometer tower data (104); and calculating a power generation capacity of the wind farm by using the virtual anemometer tower data (105).
