The apparatus according to the present invention comprises a display, a touch sensing unit for sensing a touch in a particular point, a pressure sensing unit capable of sensing the level of pressure at a touched point, and a control unit. The control unit controls the operation of the apparatus according to the input of a user via the touch sensing unit and pressure sensing unit and adjusts a control value of the apparatus according to a force-and-swipe or swipe-and-force gesture. The control value may be any one of volume, a screen magnification ratio for a current screen, a zoom level for an image captured in a camera shooting mode, screen brightness, vibration intensity, a camera focal length, a media play speed, and a scroll speed. According to one mode for carrying out the invention, the manipulability of the apparatus is improved. The mode for carrying out allows the manipulation, with one finger, of adjusting the control values of the apparatus, such as screen magnification/reduction, camera zoom-in/out, volume control, and an audio-related function.
