Provided is a fastener stringer or fastener chain in which the texture of metal elements is modified to an extent to which streak patterns disappear while minimizing decoloration, soiling, and damage in a fastener tape. The fastener stringer or the fastener chain is surface-treated using a wet blast process, whereby the surface roughness (Sa, Ssk) and the linear roughness (Ra) of the elements are controlled to prescribed ranges.
