The present invention relates to an apparatus for recognizing an angular position of a motor for obtaining information on a position of a DC motor, and more specifically, to an apparatus for recognizing an angular position of a motor, which uses an absolute position sensor and includes an absolute position sensor for recognizing disconnections/short circuits of signal lines transmitting electrical output signals of a position sensor to a control unit. The apparatus for recognizing an angular position of a motor disclosed in the present invention comprises: a pattern plate which is attached to a motor, rotates along with the motor, and has a pattern for informing a digital code indicating angular position information of the motor; a contact-type absolute position sensor which has four contact points for recognizing the pattern in the pattern plate, generates the digital code representing the angular position information of the motor based on the recognized pattern, and transmits the same; a signal line through which the digital code is transmitted; and a control unit which on the basis of the digital code input through the signal line, recognizes an absolute position of the motor, and determines abnormality of the signal line. According to the present invention, the DC motor having a contact-type absolute position sensor can be easily controlled and disconnection/short circuit of the signal line can be easily detected, such that the performance and the quality can be improved, and accordingly, the marketability of the DC motor can be improved.
