The present invention relates to an electronic device with an infrared optical device. The electronic device with the infrared optical device of the present invention comprises: an infrared ray emitting unit configured to emit light in an infrared band; an infrared ray receiving unit configured to detect light in a wavelength band of the light emitted from the infrared ray emitting unit; a signal processing unit configured to process a signal generated by the infrared ray receiving unit; a camera module including an image sensor configured to detect light in a visible light band, a lens, and a focusing module configured to move the lens along an optical axis to focus on a subject; and a control unit configured to control the infrared ray emitting unit, the infrared ray receiving unit, and the camera module. If a selected operation mode is an iris recognition mode, the infrared ray emitting unit illuminates an iris with light and the infrared light receiving unit detects the light reflected from the iris to take an image of the iris. If the selected operation mode is an infrared focusing mode, the infrared ray emitting unit illuminates the subject with light, the infrared ray receiving unit detects the light reflected from the subject, the signal processing unit calculates a position of the subject, and the focusing module operates in accordance with a result of the calculation.
