The present invention relates to a solid ink composition comprising at least one crystalline oxazoline compound and at least one amorphous component derived from a polyol, and a colorant and a selective viscosity modifier, and which is suitable for ink jet printing, including printing on a coated paper substrate . In embodiments, the solid ink formulation comprises a mixture of amorphous and crystalline components and provides a solid ink having excellent toughness when forming images or prints on a coated paper substrate.
