The present invention relates to the separation of optical isomers using simulated moving bed chromatography from glycerol and hexitol, and it was confirmed that a method for separating or purifying optical isomers according to the present invention can be carried out by a simpler process than a conventional process using the simulated moving bed chromatography to be able to purify C-3 optical isomers from glycerol and sorbitol at a high purity of 99.9% or more and a high yield, and thus there is a useful effect of obtaining high value-added chiral synthons and the like.
