A reconfigurable DC-DC converter including a controller, the reconfigurable DC-DC converter being capable of automatically adjusting an operating mode (buck mode or boost mode) according to system requirements and achieving maximum efficiency and minimum inductance current . The switching method between buck mode and boost mode allows the converter to operate at 100% duty cycle for buck mode and 0% duty cycle for boost mode. This eliminates the buck-boost operating mode, thereby maximizing efficiency and improving system stability and reliability. The converter output voltage is processed and compared to the control voltage to generate the buck and boost comparator output signals. A buck and boost comparator output signal is provided to the control logic, the control logic generates a switch control signal, and the switch control signal is provided to the DC-DC converter to establish a buck mode, a boost mode, or a pass through mode.
