The present invention relates to a method for building a database for item classification, and more particularly, to a method for building classification rules of harmonized commodity description and a coding system commonly used in various fields such as customs, trade, transportation, insurance into a database in order to streamline international trade procedures. The method comprises: inputting reference; extracting at least one effective word; grasping a rule type; and matching the extracted effective word with the rule type to store the matched word and type into a database.
