The present invention relates to a bidirectional converter having an auxiliary LC resonant circuit for realizing a constant current (CC) mode charge and a constant voltage (CV) mode charge for a high-efficiency battery charging application in a narrow switching frequency range, and to a driving method thereof. The bidirectional converter having an auxiliary LC resonant circuit of the present invention comprises: a transformation unit including primary and secondary windings to perform voltage conversion; an auxiliary LC resonator unit connected to the transformation unit through a tertiary winding; a first conversion unit connected to the primary winding, and transferring input power transformed by the transformation unit to an output capacitor in accordance with a switching operation of a first full-bridge circuit including a first switch (S_1) to a fourth switch (S_4); and a second conversion unit connected to a battery for supplying the input power, and transferring the input power to the secondary winding in accordance with the switching operation of a second full-bridge circuit including a fifth switch (Q_1) to an eighth switch (Q_4).
