According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method of automatically verifying images transmitted and received by a DICOM gateway includes: a step of enabling a DICOM gateway to receive and transmit a DICOM image from a DICOM SCU to a DICOM SCP; a step of storing metadata about the DICOM image in a metadata part; a step of initializing verification information of a validation and scheduling engine in relation to the DICOM image; a step of enabling the validation and scheduling engine to manage a verification schedule for the transmission and reception of the DICOM image; a step of enabling the validation and scheduling engine to compare and verify the number of DICOM images received from the DICOM SCU to the number of DICOM images transmitted to the DICOM SCP in accordance with the verification schedule of the validation and scheduling engine; a step of terminating the verification if the numbers are not different; a step of enabling a DICOM query and retrieve service to confirm an omitted image among the DICOM images through C-FIND if the numbers are different; and a step of enabling the DICOM query and retrieve service to transmit the confirmed omitted image to the DICOM SCP through C-MOVE.
