The present invention provides a method for avoiding network congestion. The method comprises a step of monitoring a traffic amount of a routing path that transmits an overload flow; a step of setting a routing path state according to the monitored traffic amount; and a step of transmitting at least one of the state information of the routing path and a congestion bypass path information for congestion avoidance to a switch for transmitting the overload flow to the routing path and an edge switch connected to source network equipment for transmitting the overload flow according to the routing path state.
