Provided are a magnetic strip data transmission (MST) driver and a method for driving the MST driver. The MST driver is configured to transmit the magnetic strip data including streams of pulses. The MST driver comprises two high-side switches and two low-side switches. The two high-side switches include a first switch and a second switch. The two low-side switches include a third switch and a fourth switch. The first to fourth switches are arranged in a full bridge form connected between a voltage source and the ground. An induction coil is connected between the outputs of the full bridge structure of the first to fourth switches. The MST driver comprises a switch driver configured to drive a pair of low-side switches and a pair of high-side switches under the current gradient control using pulse width modulation. To induce a reverse electromagnetic force which is recognizable and emulates the magnetic strip data in rising and falling regions of the load current and reduce power loss during a period of no signal transmission, the driven load current has rising and falling regions of rising and falling slopes which are programmable in forward or backward direction through the induction coil.
