The present invention relates to a method for culturing Tetraselmis sp.; a medium composition for culturing Tetraselmis sp.; and a method for identifying strains showing properties for promoting growth of Tetraselmis sp.. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method for culturing Tetraselmis sp. which comprises a step of administering a strain that is in a symbiotic relationship with Tetraselmis sp. to a medium used for culturing of Tetraselmis sp.; to a medium composition comprising such a strain; and to a method for identifying strains that are in the symbiotic relationship. According to the present invention, the following are provided: a method for culturing Tetraselmis sp. which enables mass production, produces reliable culture, and enables economical industrial production of Tetraselmis sp. biomass which, due to rapid growth and high content of fatty acids, has been attracting attention as potential future bioenergy, and is applicable in various fields from artificial breeding to skin cosmetic compositions, and thus has advantageous industrial applications; a medium composition for culturing Tetraselmis sp.; and a method for identifying microorganism strains showing properties for promoting growth of Tetraselmis sp..
