In general, the subject matter described herein is a method, system, and program product for implementing a method of receiving a user input defining a search query and providing the search query to a server system . The information determined by the search engine system in response to the search query is received at the computing device. The computing device is identified as being in the first state, and a first output mode is selected for at least aurally outputting a portion of the information. The first output mode is selected from the aggregate of the first output mode and the second output mode. The second output mode is selected in response to the computing device being in the second state and is for outputting at least a portion of the information visually and not for audibly outputting at least a portion of the information. At least a portion of the information is audibly output.
