The present invention relates to a self-propagating combustion reaction apparatus and a control method of the self-propagating combustion reaction apparatus. An objective of the present invention is to provide the self-propagating combustion reaction apparatus which is constructed to carry out a self-propagating combustion reaction more simply and easily, and the control method of the self-propagating combustion reaction apparatus. The self-propagating combustion reaction apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a frame; a hollow reaction container which is fixed onto the frame, and a top surface of which is opened; a cover which is movably installed on the frame to selectively open or close the top surface of the reaction container; a tray which is installed on the frame to be movable along with the cover, which is positioned under the cover such that the tray is positioned inside the reaction container in a state that the cover shields the top surface of the reaction container, and which has a reaction object seated on a top surface thereof; a first driving unit which provides a driving force for moving the cover and the tray; at least one pair of clamping members which are movably installed on the frame, and which clamp both of the cover and the reaction container in a state that the cover shields the top surface of the reaction container; a second driving unit which provides a driving force for moving the clamping members; an ignition unit which ignites the reaction object seated on the tray; and a control unit which controls movements of the first and second driving units.
