The present invention relates to a method for exploring ground subsidence in an urban area by using an electromagnetic (EM) exploration technique. The method for exploring ground subsidence in an urban area by using an EM exploration technique comprises: a step of generating a primary electric field by flowing alternating current to a coil of a transmission part through a transmission body of an apparatus for exploring ground subsidence and measuring an electric field, which is combined with a secondary electric field generated due to induced current generated when the first electric field passes through a lower part of the ground, or the size and phase of the secondary electric field; a step of analyzing the measured combined-electric field or the measured size and phase of the secondary electric field to determine the distribution of electric conductivity of the lower part of the ground; a step of imaging the distribution of electric conductivity into a high resolution image and correcting overlapping data with an average value to estimate each location of a cavity and soft ground in the lower part of the ground; and a step of determining the final state of the lower part of the ground. According to the present invention, since the width of equipment can be changed according to a measurement position, it is possible to efficiently carry out an exploration in a place with various widths and with a lot of floating population such as a sidewalk or a park road. In addition, according to the present invention, ground subsidence is explored by a non-grounding method such that there is no damage to the road surface, and there is no limit by the evenness of the road surface. Moreover, ground subsidence with relatively deep depth is explored such that it is possible to accurately determine ground conditions such as an underground cavity, soft ground or the like to prevent damage due to ground subsidence.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2018
