The present invention relates to a pump tower of an LNG storage tank, and an operating method thereof in emergency. According to the present invention, a conventional charging pipe is removed and an emergency column is used as a charging pipe. Moreover, a support unit can respond to a rapid change of impact load and temperature at a lower end portion of the emergency column. In the emergency column, a fool valve assembly is disposed to be lifted up and down. In addition, a switching unit can be provided to enable the emergency column to be switched and used for emergency or charging. Therefore, infrequent elements can be switched to be used, and a volume of the entire pump tower can be reduced to increase efficiency in space utilization.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2018
