A method and apparatus for automatically setting a radar detection range are disclosed. The apparatus for automatically setting a radar detection range may include a transmission part for transmitting a radar signal to a target object moving according to distance, a receiving part for receiving the radar signal reflected by the target object, and a detection range calculation part for calculating a distance to the object and the width of a detection range using the reflected radar signal and calculating the detection range using the distance and the width of the detection range.
