The present invention relates to an apparatus for managing research expenses and a method thereof. According to the present invention, the apparatus for managing research expenses includes: an input unit for receiving data; a communication unit for transmitting and receiving the data; and a control unit for generating a code representing each usage item included in research expense card usage information by using a predetermined code corresponding to each classification item constituting the research expenses, and managing the generated code and costs to correspond to each other. Accordingly, researchers can efficiently conduct research services.
