The present invention provides an electronic device capable of providing a virtual personal assistant function which responds to in real time during user utterance, a method for determining user utterance intention thereof, and non-transitory computer readable recording medium. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the electronic device comprises: a microphone receiving user voice uttered by a user; and a processor determining utterance intention of the user based on at least one word included in the user voice while the user voice is input, providing response information corresponding to the determined utterance intention, and updating the response information based on an additional word uttered after the at least one word is input while the response information is provided.
