According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method of improving the contrast of an ultrasonic image by using a probability edge map includes a step of obtaining a plurality of frames composing an original ultrasonic image of a subject; a step of determining similarity between the obtained frames; a step of matching the frames of the ultrasonic image, which have been determined as similar; a step of extracting a part, which is estimated as an edge, from a plurality of ultrasonic matching images generated through the matching; a step of generating a probability edge map about the extracted part; and a step of applying the generated probability edge map to the original ultrasonic image. As such, the present invention is capable of improving contrast and preserving an edge at the same time.
