Method and apparatus for classifying subtype of Alzheimer's disease based on shrinking of cerebral cortex

The subtype classification method of Alzheimer′s disease based on the degree of shrinking of cerebral cortex comprises the following steps of an Alzheimer′s disease subtype classification apparatus: performing image processing on a first cerebral cortex shape extracted from brain images of a normal group and a second cerebral cortex shape extracted from brain images of an Alzheimer′s disease patient group and generating a vertex-sampled first cerebral cortex shape and a vertex-sampled second cerebral cortex shape; determining cerebral cortex shrinking patterns by calculating the degree of shrinking of the cerebral cortex of the Alzheimer′s disease patient group based on the resampled first cerebral cortex shape and the resampled second cerebral cortex shape; and grouping and classifying the resampled second cerebral cortex shape into a plurality of subtypes based on the similarity between the cerebral cortex shrinking patterns.
