The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for managing power for preventing a blackout on the basis of a smart plug, the method and apparatus capable of preventing a blackout from occurring only by power generated by sunlight even if a power system is out of order so that if power supply stops, properly blocking demand power that exceeds the power generated by sunlight to partially supply power, monitoring a load related profile of each load, and properly blocking power with respect to each load when the power system is out of order. The method for managing power includes the steps of: obtaining load amount information of each of a plurality of loads of which power is to be managed; checking the maximum amount of generation that may be generated by a sunlight generator; determining a power supply mode based on at least one of whether power is supplied from electrical power and a result of comparing the load amount information with the maximum amount of generation; and blocking power in response to the power supply mode based on a plurality of smart plugs for respectively controlling the plurality of loads and managing power to prevent a blackout.
