The present invention relates to a thermal energy storage tank and a thermal storage/release system using the same. The present invention divides the inside of the thermal energy storage tank into a high temperature area and a lower temperature area through a barrier liftable in one thermal energy storage tank, insulates the high temperature area and the low temperature area in the thermal energy storage tank, uniformly distributes a heated heat medium to the high temperature area, and is able to prevent heat loss of the heated heat medium. To this end, the thermal energy storage tank comprises: a tank housing forming a storage space for storing the heat medium; the barrier disposed at an edge portion between the high temperature area storing the heated heat medium and the low temperature area storing a cooled heat medium, and dividing the storage space while being liftable in the storage space; and a transferring pipe connecting the tank housing with the barrier so as to provide the heated heat medium to the barrier.
