The present technology relates to a method for managing maps in a context-aware manner and a device implementing the same. According to one embodiment of the present invention, a robot managing a map in a context-aware manner comprises: a moving unit controlling movement of a robot; a map storage unit storing a fixed-set map and a situation awareness map; a sensing module sensing one or more objects disposed outside the robot; and a control unit controlling the moving unit, the map storage unit, and the sensing module and selecting a context awareness map or a fixed-set map to be applied to driving of the robot. The context awareness map includes location information of a moving object placed in the fixed-set map and situation information related to placement of the moving object.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2018
