Pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating Parkinson's disease comprising Juniperus chinensis extract or Juniperus chinensis-derived compound

In the present invention, a neuroprotective effect of an extract of Juniperus chinensis and cedrol and widdrol, compounds derived from Juniperus chinensis, are confirmed by using SH-SY5Y cells of human neuroblastoma. L-glutamic acid and 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) are used to induce toxicity of SH-SY5Y cells. The result of the study shows that the extract of Juniperus chinensis and the Juniperus chinensis-derived compounds cedrol and widdrol efficacy as pharmaceutical compositions for the prevention or treatment of Parkinson′s disease.
