Method and system for continuously measuring boron concentration in water entering the reactor coolant system in real time. The present invention takes advantage of the fact that boron contained in water, which is liquid, is affected by attenuation of sound waves or ultrasonic waves. Combined with radiation damage resistance and high temperature operable transmitter and receiver equipment, this information provides a means to place measurement system sensors and signal processing electronics equipment on the heat or cold tubes of the reactor coolant system filled flow tubes or reactor coolant loops. This will allow the reactor operator to monitor the boron concentration value of the reactor coolant system directly and detect changes in the boron concentration of the reactor coolant system relative to the reference value at the time of occurrence.
