The present invention suppresses generation of a blister by improving a degreasing property in forming an external electrode, and enables formation of a fine external electrode. A conductive paste (30) for an external electrode comprises: conductive metal powder (31); a glass frit (32) having an average diameter (D50) equal to or less than 0.8μm, and having a flat shape with an average flatness degree between 1.5-5.5; and a binder resin. The method for manufacturing an electronic component comprises: a process of manufacturing an electronic component element; a process of providing the conductive paste (30) for an external electrode on the outer surface of the electronic component element; and a process of forming the external electrode by backing the provided conductive paste for an external electrode.
