The present invention relates to a communication network and a base station for railway. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a base station designing method for a railway, which arranges first and second base stations along the railway, includes: a step (S401) of arranging the first base station at a preset location; a wave analysis stage (S403) about the first base station; a step (S404) of calculating a handover section of the first base station needed to be overlapped with a coverage area of the second base station by considering a handover between the first and second base stations based on the coverage area of the first base station analyzed in the step (S403); a step (S405) of arranging a second virtual base station within the handover section of the first base station; a wave analysis step (S406) about the second virtual base station; a step (S407) of arranging the second base station in order to be positioned within the coverage area of the second virtual base station based on the coverage area of the second virtual base station analyzed in the step (S407); a wave analysis step (S408) about the second base station; and a step (S409) of determining if a range where the coverage areas of the first and second base stations are overlapped satisfies the handover section calculated in the step (S404) based on the coverage area of the second base station analyzed in the step (S408). The present invention is provided to design a communication network and a base station for a railway simply.
