There is provided a system including a programmable multimedia controller in which flexible user access is provided through a combination of user profiles and user names / passwords. The configuration for any device that may form part of the system or that may interact with the system may be shared by a number of similar devices. The shareable device configuration is stored by the master device and may be shared by other devices of the same type as the master device.
