Infrared Presence Sensing with Modeled Background Subtraction

A motion sensing device includes an infrared (IR) sensor. The IR sensor receives a signal IR and a background IR from a warm object to produce a DC output. A first conversion filter receives a direct current output and produces a filtered background. A second conversion filter receives a direct current output and produces a filtered signal. A rating part compares the filtered signal with the filtered background and generates a result signal based on the detected difference between the filtered signal and the filtered background.
