Disclosed are a system and method to relay a sport event image and store event situation information in real time based on ontology instances about character and image data of sport relay broadcasting. According to an embodiment, the sport information providing method includes: a step of collecting relay character data and relay image data from a sport event relayed in real time; a step of extracting statistic information and situation information about each happening of the sport event based on the relay character data; a step of capturing image information about a key scene, which is determined based on the statistic information and situation information, from the relay image data; a step of generating a happening instance based on the statistic information and situation information, and generating an image instance based on the image information about a key scene; a step of connecting the image instance and happening instance through a property in relation to a domain associated with the sport event; and a step of automatically storing the situation information, statistic information, and image information about a key scene in an ontology in real time by connecting the image instance and happening instance through the property.
