A camera control method of a CCTV system for recognizing a car number and a CCTV system thereof are disclosed. The CCTV system according to the present invention basically corresponds to the change of an optical external environment according to the change of the position of the sun with time, by changing the iris setting of the camera in advance even though the vehicle number is based on a recognized image. The camera control method of the present invention is a kind of post-correction. Since an optical state change is continuously tracked and corrected, a problem that the vehicle number is not suddenly recognized according to the lighting state of sunlight is fundamentally solved. The camera control method includes a photographing step; a calculating step; and a camera adjustment step.
