Cry34Ab/35Ab Cry6Aa COMBINATIONS INCLUDING CRY34AB/35AB AND CRY6AA PROTEINS TO PREVENT DEVELOPMENT OF RESISTANCE IN CORN ROOTWORMS DIABROTICA SPP.
The present invention relates to Cry34Ab / 35Ab in combination with Cry6Aa. The present invention surprisingly provides a method of inhibiting the development of resistance (against one of the single insecticidal protein systems) by a population of maize root worms ( Diabrotica spp.) (Cry4Ab / Cry35Ab and Cry6Aa) Discovery. Corn plants that produce these insecticidal Cry proteins useful in alleviating the concern that the corn rootworm population may develop resistance to one of these insecticidal protein systems alone. Plants that produce these two insecticidal protein systems (and the cultivated area where the plants are grown) are also within the scope of the present invention. The invention also relates, in part, to a combination of Cry34Ab / 35Ab and Cry3Aa proteins that form a "triple stack" with the Cry6Aa protein. Transgenic plants, including maize, including the cry6Aa gene, the cry34Ab / 35Ab gene and the cry3Aa gene are included within the scope of the present invention. Thus, such embodiments target the root worm in three modes of action.
