Disclosed are a system and method for providing a remote control-based interactive animation using a digital character. The system for providing an interactive animation includes: a motion sensing device for creating motion information by sensing a motion of an actor and transmitting the created motion information in real time; a relay server (intermediate server) for receiving the motion information in real time from the motion sensing device, searching for a digital character of the motion information received in real time, and transmitting the searched digital character and the motion information in real time; and an animation display device for receiving the digital character and the motion information in real time from the relay server, and displaying in real time the digital character received in real time by applying the motion information received in real time.
