The present invention relates to an automatic fire detection method and an apparatus thereof and, more specifically, to an automatic fire detection method, applied to an automatic fire detection system to detect fire in a multi-unit dwelling, such as an apartment, in a centralized type and detecting the fire based on heterogenous sensing data, and an apparatus thereof. According to one preferred embodiment of the present invention, the automatic fire detection method comprises: a step of allowing a data collection unit to collect a sensing value of a fire detector for each household, and the concentrations of carbon dioxide and fine dust calculated in an automatic ventilation system for each household; a step of allowing a fire detection unit to calculate the concentration of smoke by using the sensing value of the fire detector; and a step of the fire detection unit to determine fire occurrence for each household by using the concentrations of smoke, carbon dioxide, and fine dust. Accordingly, fire is detected by utilizing various heterogenous sensing data, thereby being able to increase reliability of an automatic fire detection system.
