The present invention provides a device for reducing the used amount of absorption oil in a crude light oil recovery process, and a method thereof to reduce the amount of absorption oil used in the process of producing crude light oil from coke-oven gas by controlling the discharge of deteriorated sludge discharged from a pitch separation tower depending on the viscosity thereof. The device for reducing the amount of absorption oil in a crude light oil recovery process comprises: a pitch separation tower which receives a part of absorption oil discharged to the lower part of a distillation tower, and discharges deteriorated sludge in which physical properties of the absorption oil are changed; a pump which discharges the deteriorated sludge of the pitch separation tower to the outside; and a viscometer which measures the viscosity of the deteriorated sludge discharged from the pump, and determines whether to discharge the deteriorated sludge.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2018
