A method of performing measurements on data traffic at nodes in a communication network is disclosed. The node includes an input interface and an output interface. The input interface receives the first packets and checks whether the first packets are marked. If the first packet is marked, the global input parameter is updated. If the first packet is addressed to the output interface, the partial input parameter is also updated. The output interface receives the second packets, the second packets include at least a portion of the first packets, and the output interface checks whether the second packets are marked. If the second packet is marked, the partial output parameter is updated if the second packet is received from the input interface. Furthermore, the global output parameters are updated. The method additionally comprises performing a measurement on the data traffic based on a global input parameter, a partial input parameter, a global output parameter and a partial output parameter.
