The present invention relates to a phamaceutical composition for treating degenerative brain disease containing a compound isolated from Tenebrio molitor, wherein the compound TM-1 according to the present invention exists in the Tenebrio molitor, protects nerve cells against Aβ-induced toxicity while there is little cytotoxicity. In addition to inhibiting oxidative stress, the composition has an anti-inflammatory effect which blocks the expression of inflammatory biomarkers through the phosphorylation inhibition of NF-κB, which is an inflammatory regulatory transcription factor, and JNK and p38 MAPKs, which are at higher levels, so that the compound TM-1 may be useful for prevention or treatment of the degenerative brain disease, particularly, Alzheimer′s dementia.
