Method and Apparatus for Pig's Room Background Removal using Texture Information

Provided are a method and an apparatus for removing a background of a pig pen using texture information which can accurately detect only a pig by removing a background (e.g. a floor or a wall) in a pig pen. The method for removing a background of a pig pen using texture information comprises the steps of: obtaining a depth information image by photographing an object in a space through a camera, and correcting depth information of the obtained image; removing a floor area by projecting the image in which the depth information is corrected, onto a gabor filter; performing a difference image technique by individually projecting an image of a space which includes the object and an image of a space which does not include the object onto the gabor filter, and inverting the images thereafter; performing an erosion operation to separate a noise area from the object in the image performing the difference image technique; and performing an expansion operation to restore a size reduced by performing the erosion operation.
