The slurry for gypsum board production includes plaster, water, a foaming agent and an adhesive. The blowing agent imparts a plurality of bubbles to the slurry. Typically, the foam imparts a plurality of bubbles to the slurry by preforming the foam as a blowing agent and forming the slurry using the foam. The coalescing agent coalesces a plurality of bubbles imparted by the foam. Typically, the coalescing agent coalesces a plurality of small, partially bonded bubbles imparted by the foam to produce larger, more discrete bubbles. Methods of gypsum board and slurry formation and gypsum board formation are also listed. The gypsum board contains a gypsum layer formed from slurry. The gypsum layer is imparted by the foam and the coalescing agent of the slurry to define a plurality of bubbles dispersed therein.
