SSD SSD Method and Apparatus for Cache management to guarantee SSD lifetime in a disk-based video storage server

A method and apparatus for managing an SSD cache to guarantee an SSD lifetime in a disk-based video storage server are proposed. The method for managing an SSD cache to guarantee an SSD lifetime in a disk-based video storage server includes the steps of: calculating a caching utility through each video segment with the same size; sorting the caching utilities according to the calculated caching utility value in a higher order and storing the corresponding video segment in an SSD according to an SSD capacity in the order of the sorted caching utility values; and replacing the corresponding video segment of the lowest caching utility value in the set of the stored video segments with the highest caching utility value of a set of new video segments, in order to maximize the sum of the caching utility values. Accordingly, the present invention can maximize a disk bandwidth reduction amount of the caching utility within a limited replacement number.
