The present invention relates to a fast smog/low illuminance image improving method and apparatus using a mapping table. The fast smog/low illuminance image improving method using a mapping table according to an embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of: determining whether an input image is lowly illuminated; selectively reversing an input color image if a determination result is low illumination; and converting the selectively reversed image into a dark image. Therefore, the present invention can provide a clear image by improving visibility.
