Limiting values of a function of two or three arguments for functions are determined. During units and process complexes operation, current performance indicators are obtained, which are compared with the values of the approximating or discrete function and estimating the size of deviations of current values from values of the approximating function. By means of approximation of indicators state of individual units or their subsystems is predicted.
