FIELD: measuring equipment.;SUBSTANCE: at control objects - the compressor station (1) and the gas pipeline (2) - monitoring equipment in the form of fiber-optic sensors for acoustic signals (3) is placed. Optical radiation is created, it is fed into the sensitive optical element (5) of the fiber-optic sensor. As initial information for monitoring, parameters of air acoustic signals, accompanying the release of gas through knot hole, are used. To detect these signals, high-sensitivity fiber-optic sensors are used, whose sensitive elements, which do not require power supply, are placed in series on the masts (13) and overhead line columns (14) along the pipeline route. The received acoustic signals are transformed with the help of analogue-digital devices (9), permanently located in the communication nodes (15). Received from transducers information is transmitted (10) in computing block (8), analyzed and the existence of a defect and the its localization relative to placement of adoptive modules with an accuracy of the plot is determined.;EFFECT: improving the accuracy and effectiveness of control while expanding the operational capabilities of the monitoring facilities in terms of monitoring the condition of insulators and disconnectors of the overhead line of cathodic protection of pipelines.;5 cl, 4 dwg
