FIELD: environmental protection.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to environmental protection, environmental chemistry, and can be used in the preparation of bottom sediment samples for the determination of aliphatic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) therein. To prepare samples for analysis, 1.5–2.5 g of bottom sediments are used. Aliphatic hydrocarbons and PAHs are extracted from them by mechanically stirring first with acetone, then with a mixture of acetone-hexane-methylene chloride and a mixture of acetone-hexane-methylene chloride-isooctane. Then the extracts are purified by redistribution through water. Further, separation into aliphatic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons is carried out on a micro-column filled with 1.0–1.5 g of silica gel by eluting aliphatic hydrocarbons with 3 ml of hexane and 0.5 ml of hexane-methylene chloride mixture in a ratio of 1:1 by their volume, and eluting PAHs with 3.0 ml of hexane-methylene chloride mixture in a ratio of 1:1 by their volume. Identification and quantitative measuring of individual aliphatic hydrocarbons isolated from the analyzed sample is carried out by gas chromatography using a mass spectrometric detector, and that of PAHs is carried out by high-performance liquid chromatography.;EFFECT: improves the accuracy of determining the component composition of petroleum products in bottom sediments.;1 cl, 3 dwg, 5 tbl, 6 ex
