Electrolysis of a saturated solution of nicotinic acid with copper electrodes is performed at with direct current, the resulting precipitate is separated, washed and dried. Solvent used is a DMF: acetonitrile system (90:10 volume ratio), the background electrolyte is potassium chloride.
